WHO WE ARE

RIK HAINES
DIRECTOR

Rik began his career by producing festivals for the likes of Glade, Bloc Weekend and Lost Vagueness at Glastonbury. While he loved the chaos, variety and unpredictability of greenfield events, the lure of year-round work and a steady income drew him to the dark side – aka brand events for marketing and experiential agencies.

It turns out corporate is both steady and fun – and if you’re a creative like Rik, you can eventually combine what you love with where the money is: producing innovative, memorable, and just the right amount of subtle, brand events. Happy clients, happy Rik.

There’s lots more to his career story but eventually he wanted more control, more variety and more time in his garden office than working for the man would allow him. The time had come to strike out on his own, taking his many, many contacts and everything he had learned working with brands like Sky, Diageo, Wagamama, Adidas and Disney to whoever wanted a slice of his production genius. That’s a long way of saying that Rik started Positive Experience in February 2019.

Rik loves coffee, cooking and creating awesome 3D drawings in sketch-up, building experiences, alongside production managing large-scale outdoor events.

BEN WILSON-WHITE
PRODUCTION MANAGER

Ben’s been part of the +E team since it started, working on various projects out in the fields, before becoming a more regular fixture of the team (and the garden office). With many years’ experience in delivering food and drink-focused events and experiences, Ben’s used to managing some pretty hefty budgets, which is a great asset for us. He has worked with a wide range of local, national and international producers to celebrate culinary innovation and sustainability.

Ben also walks the walk when it comes to food – his homemade lunches cause widespread envy at +E HQ and lockdown has seen him perfecting his bagel-making and burger stacking. Oh, and enjoying more time with his wife and baby daughter. But mainly the bagel thing.

Expect to see his examples of his culinary prowess when we finally throw a big company party for you all.

SAM KYDD
PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Every team needs a Sam. He’s innovative, hard-working, enthusiastic and hungry to learn, with some fantastic experience under his belt already. He’s also a fantastic home cook and a barista who makes a mean flat white. Can you see a theme emerging?

Sam’s gone from a helping hand on some of our coffee events to a well-rounded event professional, keen to get stuck in to anything. He helps with everything – find him on the ground loading the trucks or leading teams at festivals, but also in the office helping come up with the projects, and doing the nitty gritty admin stuff.

With a Masters in Commercial music, Sam has specialised in music business analysis but is also the proud conceptualist behind successful portable coffee outlets and events all over the north and southwest of the country. One to watch, for sure.

EXPERIENCES

A snapshot of some of the experiences we’ve produced since we started in February 2019. We draw on our many years experience of producing public and private events, including trade shows, festivals, festival activations, PR stunts, city sampling at transport hubs and in shopping centres to advise you on the best approach.

OATLY ‘NOT MILK’

In January +E designed, built and took a shipping container around the UK to five cities. For two solid weeks we gave the public a taste of Oatly in coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Sampling outside in January is never fun, but the container was designed with comfort, warmth and dryness in mind with built-in heaters, rain cover and a variety of options for if (when!) the weather turned.

The brief included managing the onsite build and container logistics, sourcing and managing all 5 locations and  permissions and also careful delivery of a large amount of delicious Oatly from city to city, making sure we never ran dry.

PENNARD ORCHARD

Pennard Orchard is a high-end luxury glamping site and restaurant that happens during Glastonbury Festival. A stone’s throw away from the festival, it’s a quiet haven for festival goers to rest, refuel and detox/retox before heading back to party. Having spent many years working inside the fence for Lost Vagueness and the Glade Area, Rik has enjoyed the relative luxury and calm of producing Pennard Orchard. The production values are epic and +E helps deliver a boutique hotel experience while dealing with the largest UK festival over the road. Complete with full-spec kitchen and restaurant and high-end bar, we tie up all the production elements and work with the hospitality and restaurant teams to deliver a first class experience for their guests.

PENNARD ORCHARD

MEATLESS FARM

We’ve loved working with the brand since 2018. It’s an awesome vegan product and they’re doing great things for the booming meat-free industry. Since we started working with them we’ve produced and designed several exhibitions and festival set-ups. One of the many elements we love is looking after and storing their vintage Citroën H van. We’ve also recently designed and built them a touring exhibition stand with a country kitchen feel. It packs down nicely into two shipping crates and is easily assembled wherever it goes. A useful extra asset, along with their H Van, and suitable for all types of events.

OATLY ICE CREAM

Last year we hired a vintage ice cream van, wrapped and customised it for a one-month campaign, which included two weeks of sampling around central London and some other special events before that. This was a great chance to use our experience and contacts to source suitable locations across the UK. Once the tour was in full swing, we managed all the day-to-day logistics for the van, also providing a back-up freezer truck with extra stock in. As part of a wider OOH media campaign, the van was seen pootling around London for most of November, before we returned it to its original look.
